Masters License Study Aids

This page is for those who have asked about obtaining a Masters license for professional yacht crewing.  The National Maritime Center link below lists all the requirements for licensure, including seatime experience and testing requirements.  As I find further helpful links I will list them here.

First, a recent edition of the following publications is needed:

• Chapman Piloting & Seamanship 66th Edition
• Colregs
• U.S. Chart No. 1

If you can memorize everything in those volumes, you'll be halfway there!

Should also have:

• Light List
• Coast Pilot
• U.S. Govt. Tide & Current Tables
• VTS Manual
• My Lights & Shapes Summary Guide  Study and learn this, or better yet, make your own chart or flashcards.
